KissPeptin-10 Overview

KissPeptin-10 (KP-10) is a natural peptide derived from the kisspeptin protein, it acts as a “master controller” of reproduction by governing the HPG axis responsible for fertility and sexual development. In addition to stimulating reproductive hormone release in men and women, it also can enhance sexual desire and brain activity related to sexual stimuli, improved erectile function: In men, research has shown to increase penile rigidity by up to 56% more than a placebo. Research is ongoing and the claimed benefits are still emerging.

 KissPeptin-10 Structure:

CAS Number (human KP-10): 374675-21-5. (Note: rodent KP-10 variant has a different CAS: 478507-53-8.)

Molecular Formula: C₆₃H₈₃N₁₇O₁₄.

Molecular Weight (average): ~1302.44–1302.50 g/mol.

Monoisotopic Mass (exact): 1301.630540.

Parent Compound: Kisspeptin-54 (“metastin”; KISS1 gene product). KP-10 corresponds to residues 45–54 (C-terminal) and is amidated at the C-terminus.

Synonyms:

  • Kisspeptin-10
  • Kp-10
  • Metastin (45–54)
  • KiSS-1 (112–121) amide
  • H-YNWNSFGLRF-NH₂ (human sequence).

Research Areas:

  • Reproductive neuroendocrinology (GnRH/LH/FSH regulation; puberty onset; fertility).
  • Fertility treatment: Ovulation trigger for IVF; Treating infertility: reproductive hormone release in men and in women
  • KISS1/KISS1R signaling biology (including its discovery as a metastasis suppressor).
  • Translational studies evaluating controlled LH stimulation in humans.
  • Sexual health: Increase testosterone production resulting in improved libido: Enhanced sexual desire and brain activity related to sexual stimuli; Improved erectile function: In men, it has been shown to increase penile rigidity by up to 56% more than a placebo.
  • Cancer research: The parent KISS1 gene was originally identified as a metastasis suppressor gene in melanoma. Research continues to explore kisspeptin’s potential role in inhibiting the metastasis of various cancers, including breast and prostate cancer.
  • Other areas of research: Preliminary studies have explored kisspeptin’s influence on mood, metabolic regulation, and appetite suppression, though results are still emerging.

Research-only note: KissPeptin-10 is not FDA-approved for therapeutic use; published effects are primarily preclinical and exploratory.
